Winter Plunge
GMDVP’s 6th annual Winter Plunge By now, many New Englanders are tired of shoveling snow and slipping on icy sidewalks --thinking how nice it will be to go to the beach and take a dip in the ocean once summer rolls around. However, GMDVP is looking for volunteers who just cannot wait for summer to uphold our time-honored tradition of taking GMDVP’s winter plunge February 28th! But what exactly is the winter plunge? It’s very much like those Polar Bear clubs you may have heard of, where people jump into icy oceans for the thrill of it all. However, GMDVP’s plunge stands out from the crowd in one exciting and important way: Some of our plungers have made a tradition of dressing up in drag or in an outrageous outfit while plunging. Of course, this is not required of plungers but for those of you who want to have a little fun with it, we more than welcome you to. We ask plungers to gather pledges for their plunge – as sane individuals do for walkathons – and we are happy to help you in your fundraising efforts. GMDVP can always use more funding to aid victims of domestic violence so we encourage everyone to raise as much as they can! Always wanted the option to don a wig, slide into a bodice, and do it all for a great cause? This is your chance! If you want to plunge this year or just come out for the crazy stunt, contact GMDVP by emailing development@gmdvp.org or calling 617.354.6056. Date/Time: February 28, 2010 at Noon Location: Carson Beach, South Boston
